The national flag of France or the Tricolore has a very powerful meaning. Each of the three vertical bands colored in blue, white and red have a symbol behind. At the storming of the Bastille, the militia in Paris wore cockades in these colors on their hats. Blue and red are also the traditional colors of Paris and they are used on the citys coat of arms.
