Montattoo, temporary tattoos by professionals
2015 promises to become the year for temporary tattoos! More people are discovering what fun it can be to experiment with all kinds of designs and colors. Metallic tattoos - temporary tattoos in gold and silver tones – are especially popular. Not ready for a ‘real’ tattoo? Don’t want to be saddled forever with a design done on a whim in the spur of the moment? Then temporary tattoos are exactly up your street!
The hype surrounding temporary tattoos did not escape Bram Laebens and Arend Pijls. When founding MonkeyMonkey, these two guys from Ghent did not sail in on the decal-style tattoo trend - they wanted to do it better, with unique and quality designs. And so Montattoo was born! Montattoo
From the start, Bram and Arend had a professional approach. They absolutely only wanted to work with people who are familiar with the tattoo world, and thus know exactly what type of designs are popular, and where people most frequently place their tattoos. Contrary to what you might think, the world of ‘real’ tattoos is not opposed to temporary tattoos. On the contrary, tattoo artists themselves use temporary tattoos to provide doubting customers with an idea of what a tattoo would look like. Moreover, in this way, tattoos become more generally recognized and accepted by a wider audience. The Montattoo designs had to be unique in order to stand out in the large selection already available out there. In addition, people needed to get to work creatively by giving it their own interpretation. Bram and Arend eventually chose three creative artists, each designing their own Montattoo Collection: Lisa Dumon and Dries Verscheure are both tattoo artists, and Toyah De Corte is an illustrator. They were given free rein, each collection reflecting their own unique style. Collections Lisa D. Collection
Lisa Dumon is a recognized tattoo artist who finds her inspiration in her work. She works at the Polak's Finest Beef Shop tattoo studio. Her work is characterized by dotwork and she also likes to use contrasts. For Montattoos, she drew these four different tattoo sheets:
Dries V. Collection
Dries Verscheure has been running his own tattoo studio, Punctum, since 2014. His style is academic, yet absurd. His collection for Montattoo shows something of a more rugged design, and consists of four tattoo sheets:
Toyah D. Collection
Illustrator Toyah De Corte sees herself as an observer and calls her style semi-realistic. She loves to draw and to experiment with different media. Her four tattoo sheets will especially appeal to nature and animals lovers:
Gold Collection
Naturally, a collection of gold temporary tattoos could not be left out. There is a wide choice, including geometric designs, feathers, palm trees and quotes:
For those who prefer colorful and playful temporary tattoos, Bram himself designed the Play collection. Quotes such as “Good vibes only” and “Live life in a bikini” reflects the feel of this collection. The collections have been a great hit and the two young entrepreneurs see the number of orders growing every day. It was never their intention to last for just one summer. Temporary tattoos should become an established accessory. There are all kinds of new collaborations in the works, including with people outside of the tattoo world, so be sure to keep an eye on their website. Are you convinced?
Montattoo designs are not only unique, just looking at the quality you can tell that they are made by creative professionals. And better still, they are extremely affordable!
